SWIM LESSONS OFFERED BY THE YMCA
The YMCA has been America's leading swim instructor for more than 100 years, teaching safety and confidence in the water. YMCA of Superior California Aquatics Programs extend beyond basic instruction with a character development emphasis and child-centered approach. Swim lessons are about more than just teaching techniques and skills, they're about building confidence and connections, developing self-esteem, and creating positive experiences and skills that will last a lifetime.
YOUTH SWIM LESSONS
When your kids take swim lessons, they’ll gain confidence and learn new skills in a fun, caring environment. Not to mention the benefits of staying active and healthy!
ADULT SWIM LESSONS
The pool just isn't for kids. Join the fun and learn something new! Our adult swim lesson program offers individualized instruction for every level.
It’s never too late to learn how to swim! Our adult swim lessons provide a place for adults and teens 13 and older to learn how to swim in a friendly group setting. Adult swim lessons are for those individuals who wish to learn to swim or those who want to improve their technique and feel safe and secure in any body of water– whether it’s a pool, lake or the ocean.
Our Swim Lessons are designed to meet the individual needs of each participant. Beginners will learn to enjoy the water, work on fundamental strokes and lap swimming skills. Advanced swimmers will focus on increasing endurance.
LAP SWIM & WATER EXERCISE
Lap swim will be available and the YMCA will offer a variety of water exercise classes to meet the needs of all of our participants.
Build a skill, save a life. The YMCA Lifeguard Program is a scenario-based training and ensures that lifeguards—the ones we hire and the ones we certify—are the best in the business.
The YMCA has the following positions currently open for the Aquatic Center:
You can complete the job application below and return it to the Esparto Community Services District (ECSD). The ECSD will forward all applications received to the YMCA for consideration.
The Lifeguard class link below also certifies the CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Here are the requirements for the swim portion of the class:
WATER SKILLS: Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs.
Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed.
- Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface to breathe (or to get a breath).
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
